BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 20, 2026) – Fan favorite Rico Abreu and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing (TSR) did their best to conquer High Limit Racing and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in their recent stretch of competition. And although the team was short of attaining victory, they did the next best thing and secured five straight top-ten appearances, finishing no worse than sixth with their Buckeye State highlight being a runner-up score in the $200,000-to-win 43rd Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Saturday, July 18.
Impressive enough, Abreu, the current High Limit Racing national championship point leader as well as reigning Series champion, started tenth on the 40-lap grid – a second consecutive charge from tenth that launched with Abreu climbing from tenth to fifth in the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday, July 17.
Eldora Speedway’s Kings Royal Week program included four nights of competition, the opening pair on Wednesday and Thursday sanctioned by High Limit Racing. Abreu finished fourth and second, respectively, leading much of Thursday’s $100,000-to-win Joker’s Jackpot before NASCAR star Kyle Larson took command on lap 23. Despite the fact, Abreu’s runner-up score earned the St. Helena, California, native a cool $25,000.
Saturday’s Kings Royal runner-up result earned the team an additional $35,000.
“Thinking about it all over again, I probably would’ve tried to get the middle working a little more,” Abreu admitted following Saturday’s Kings Royal finale.
“But I just was running the top so hard and getting my tires really hot and trying to process what I needed to do at that time in the race. Restarting on the bottom hurt me some until the end when I got the guys to come back out and adjust my tire pressures. I was able to take off there on that last restart. It’s just such hard racing. Hats off to the 39M guys.”
