BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 8, 2023) – Despite missing the top-ten on two attempts just one weekend prior, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing came to play on Friday and Saturday at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track in Rossburg, Ohio, ultimately capping Eldora Speedway’s annual Let’s Race Two with back-to-back podium scores, all of which headlined with a runner-up performance on Saturday, May 6. Schatz, who now owns six top-five outcomes in his first 17 World of Outlaws starts, simultaneously propelled himself to sixth in the Series standings; he was ninth when Eldora’s action commenced.

Head turning at the least, Schatz, ace of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, MadJax XSeries, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, started 11th in his runner-up pursuit on Saturday night, battling his way to third in just 11 circuits. Although short lived, the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion did lead a single circuit, working by leader and eventual winner, Rico Abreu, on lap 18. Abreu would go on to reclaim command the following circuit.

Donny Schatz opened Eldora’s doubleheader with a third-place finish on Friday, sneaking ahead one position after starting fourth on the grid. The top-three were under a blanket at the finish with Schatz finishing just behind Rico Abreu and winner, Logan Schuchart.

A heat race victory would slingshot Schatz to Friday’s dash; he finished fourth.

“This was a decent weekend – third and second,” Schatz said. “Hopefully we can get a win here soon. Things were feeling pretty decent here this weekend. We’ve always had pretty decent finishes here at Eldora.

You’ve got to get going and get momentum. On my end, I’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve been kicked in the head a lot. I’ve been kicked in the guts a lot. I’m used to it. That’s what drivers do. That’s what gets you to win championships. These guys work hard. My guys needed this – to get a good finish and get that momentum back going and the confidence back and everything.”
