BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 11, 2022) – In all, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing put together a sound performance in Wilmot Raceway’s annual Badger 40 on Saturday, July 9, leading the opening two laps in Wilmot, Wisconsin, before settling into the final spot on the podium. Schatz, a former Wilmot winner, lost command to eventual Badger 40 champ, Carson Macedo, on lap three, who was then flanked by James McFadden, who settled into second by Schatz with 15 to go.

“We’ve got some work to do,” Schatz admitted. “We had a chance and led some laps in the beginning, but then those guys just flat-out drove away from us. We were too free near the end, and we haven’t been battling that much. We’ve got a big stretch coming up, and now is the time to figure it out.”

Schatz’ preliminary effort included the fifth-fastest time in qualifying time trials, followed by a runner-up position in his respective heat race. The ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and Fargo, North Dakota, native went on to finish third in the evening’s dash, hence his starting position in the 40-lap main.

Donny Schatz remains sixth in the World of Outlaws championship battle, padded by 25 top-ten finishes in 35 starts.
