BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 16, 2022) – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and Pennsylvania Posse continued their storied rivalry over the past week with head-to-head competition at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway, as well as Williams Grove Speedway, on Wednesday and Saturday, May 11 and 14, respectively. Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing did their best to help the Outlaws claim the territory as their own, capping the three-race turned two-race run (losing the Friday night preliminary at Williams Grove to Mother Nature) with one top-five outcome, increasing their season tally to five.
Schatz, driver of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Digital Ally, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, finished fourth in his top-five appearance, doing so in the Williams Grove Speedway Morgan Cup finale on Saturday. The Fargo, North Dakota, native crossed under the final checkers in the fifth spot, but an eventual disqualification of the runner-up bumped Schatz to fourth.
The ten-time World of Outlaws champion kicked-off the Morgan Cup program with the fourth-quickest qualifying time in his respective group, winning a heat race shortly thereafter.
A few nights prior, Schatz and TSR finished 13th in Lincoln Speedway’s Gettysburg Clash; a great recovery after winning the Last Chance Showdown. Schatz was forced to compete in the consolation event after missing a transfer position in his respective heat race, finishing sixth with only five making the call.
