BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 13, 2019) – Although unable to accomplish an 11th Knoxville Nationals championship at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz still put on an impressive display during his four-day visit to the Sprint Car Capital of the World, ultimately ending his Nationals campaign with a head-turning rally from 18th to finish ninth during the $150,000-to-win finale, not before going to the tail due to mechanical woes.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, was forced to go to the tail on Saturday night after engine trouble plagued the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion. The team discovered the issue and fixed the problem, allowing Schatz to return to the speedway and recover for a top-ten.

“It wasn’t the night we wanted, but the guys never gave up,” Donny Schatz said, who is currently second in the World of Outlaws championship standings. “Our weekend was full of instances like that; little things that we failed to catch that ended up hurting us in the long run. All we can do is try and learn from our mistakes and move forward.”

Donny Schatz kicked-off his Knoxville Nationals campaign with a hard charge from 24th to finish 11th during preliminary competition on Wednesday, August 7.

Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz is heading for home, anxious to rejoin the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series during a pair of starts in his own backyard.
The Greatest Show On Dirt will activate the weekend at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Friday, August 16, followed by a stop at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota, on Saturday, August 17.
