BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 22, 2019) – It was an impressive week for ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, not only accomplishing two victories in four starts, but doing so during one the biggest weeks in winged sprint car racing history. Impressive enough, the four-race stretch was conducted in consecutive fashion, all of which taking shape at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, kicked-off Kings Royal week at The Big E with the #LetsRaceTwo make-up program on Wednesday evening, July 17. Charging ahead from the outside of row two, the eventual victory was convincing, allowing Schatz to officially sweep #LetsRaceTwo weekend in 2019.

Although forced to settle with a runner-up finish during the Jokers Wild program on Thursday, July 18, Donny Schatz quickly responded and marched his way back to victory lane on Friday night at Eldora Speedway, this time claiming the Knight Before The Kings Royal title worth $12,000. The victory bumped Schatz’ total to six in 2019; his third Eldora Speedway victory in four starts dating back to the #LetsRaceTwo opener in early May.

Like Wednesday, the Friday night triumph was convincing, eventually leading all 30 circuits from the pole position while holding off pressure from Jason Johnson Racing’s David Gravel and tenth-starting Logan Schuchart.

Despite falling short of obtaining a fourth consecutive Kings Royal crown, Schatz’ performance on Saturday night at The Big E was nothing short stout, eventually finishing sixth during an unprecedented, $175,000-to-win main event after starting second on the grid.

The Fargo, North Dakota-native battled with the frontrunners for most of the 40-lap distance, not falling outside of the top-five until the closing circuits.

“It’s not the overall outcome we wanted, but it was still a solid week for our team,” Donny Schatz expressed, who owns five Kings Royal titles overall. “We were in a perfect position to accomplish our goal. Regardless, we’ll put this behind us and move forward. We have a busy week ahead so hopefully we can put our notes to good use and perform well at Lernerville and Williams Grove.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their quest toward an 11th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship this Tuesday night, July 23, at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The coveted Silver Cup is on the line awarding a top prize equalling $25,000, a title Schatz has won six times.

Following his trip to Lernerville, Donny Schatz will trek east and prepare for a two-day stint at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday and Saturday, July 26 & 27. Chasing a total winner’s share posted at $28,000, the annual Summer Nationals will takeover Williams Grove Speedway headlines during the coming weekend. Friday night action will award an $8,000 payday, while Saturday’s finale boasts a $20,000 winner’s share.
