BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 20, 2019) – It certainly was not Tony Stewart’s initial plan to visit the Buckeye State during the recent weekend, but the last minute destination change due to Mother Nature’s havoc in the upper-Midwest proved to be more than beneficial, eventually ending the weekend with another pair of top-ten finishes, one of which an Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) victory on the highbanks of Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe on Saturday, May 18.

The win, Stewart’s fifth of the season and his second during 410c.i. sprint car competition, was accomplished from the outside-front row, eventually leading every circuit over a competitive field that included Brandon Wimmer, Cole Duncan and Hunter Schuerenberg.

Although Stewart was in command of every lap on Saturday night at Atomic Speedway, Brandon Wimmer was high on his heels, actually applying heavy pressure while in traffic during the first 11 circuits. Yellow flags waved for the main event’s first and only caution on lap 12 giving Stewart the breather that he needed. The caution proved to be a momentum shift for the Columbus, Indiana-native, as Stewart was unchallenged for the remaining distance.

Impressive enough, Stewart’s 2019 win list now includes four different sprint car organizations: OVSCA, All Star Circuit of Champions, United Sprint Car Series (USCS), and Great Lakes Super Sprint (GLSS).

“Our initial plans were ruined, but we made the best of it and it all worked out in the end,” ‘Smoke’ Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “I’m excited for my team. My guys work hard and they have this car right where it needs to be. Things are only going to get busier for us. We have a lot of positive momentum on our side, so we’ll do our best to put that to the test.”

Before making the tow to southern Ohio to visit Atomic Speedway, Tony Stewart made an appearance at Attica Raceway Park in Attica on Friday, May 17. Although not on top of the feature podium, the visit resulted in consistency, kicking off his eventual two-race trip with an eighth place finish after starting in the exact same position. If the end-result was not enough, Smoke ignited his evening in northwest Ohio by recording the second-fastest time during qualifying time trials, soon followed by a runner-up finish during heat race competition. A feature redraw set the evening’s grid.

Upcoming plans remain uncertain for Tony Stewart and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing program. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via social media for continuing updates regarding Tony Stewart’s future racing destinations.
