BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 13, 2019) – The recent weekend was nearly flawless for Columbus, Indiana’s Tony Stewart, as the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion attained back-to-back podium finishes during sprint car competition, one of which a win during 360c.i. action in southern Michigan.

The victory, occurring during Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) competition at I-96 Speedway on Friday, May 10, was the product of a third row starting position. Wasting little time, ‘Smoke’ maneuvered his way to the front, eventually taking command with only 14 laps checked off the counter. The eventual triumph was Stewart’s fourth of the season, now earning victories against three different sanctioning bodies including GLSS, United Sprint Car Series (USCS) and the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Smoke’s second podium performance of the weekend occurred during FAST Series action at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio – once again the product of a third row starting position. Although falling one position short of a weekend sweep, Smoke made things interesting and nearly drove by race leader, Cole Duncan, during a battle in traffic with a short distance remaining.

Although Smoke attempted a last-ditch effort maneuver in the final corner, diving low into turns three and four in hopes of sneaking by Duncan just before the flagstand, the attempt fell short, ultimately forced to settle for the next step on the podium.

“That was a fun weekend. Being able to put together back-to-back solid performances like that is always enjoyable,” Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “Hats off to this team. They make my job look easy.”

With the intent to add another Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory to his credit, Smoke will continue his 2019 sprint car campaign with a trio of All Star events through southern Wisconsin on Friday through Sunday, May 17-19. Stewart will follow the Series to Wilmot Raceway, Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway, respectively.
