BROWNSBURG, Ind. (March 5, 2018) – Snapping a cold streak during United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour competition that included back-to-back finishes outside of the top-ten, Tony Stewart earned his first victory of the 2018 season, officially claiming the Frostbuster 150 at Magnolia (Miss.) Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, March 3.

The 360 cubic inch sprint car victory was accomplished in perfect fashion, ultimately leading all 30 circuits around Magnolia Motor Speedway’s 3/8-mile oval from the front row. Adding to his perfect evening in northern Mississippi, Smoke also dominated his respective USCS heat race, charging to the front from the outside of row four, automatically qualifying the Columbus, Ind., native for the Frostbuster main event.

“Feels good to finally get a win. This has been a long time coming,” Tony Stewart, pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car, said. “Jimmy and Marty worked their tails off all winter long to get us to this position. It takes a lot of laps and sometimes a lot of testing to figure out where you need to be to stay comfortable in the car. Anytime you get to victory lane feels great.”

Before visiting Magnolia Motor Speedway, Stewart opened his recent weekend of competition by joining the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour at the Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Friday, March 2. Nearly opening the weekend just like it ended, Stewart earned a heat race victory to kick-off his Friday night visit to Hattiesburg, earning a feature starting position on the outside of row four.

Unfortunately, a battle for the runner-up spot during the closing circuits of the 30-lapper ended in disaster, unintentionally making contact with another competitor resulting in a ‘DNF.’ Officially, Stewart was scored 15th.

“Not the way we wanted our night to end,” Tony Stewart explained regarding his Friday night results. “We were in position to make something happen but we fell a little short. That’s the way racing goes sometimes.”
